A night of film, food, and nostalgia under the stars.
Created for Dulan’s on Crenshaw, Cinema & Soul transformed the restaurant’s outdoor space into an intimate open-air cinema experience. A screening of Harlem Nights, comfortable lounge seating, food, popcorn, games, and interactive guest moments came together for an evening that blended movie-night nostalgia with the warmth and hospitality of Dulan’s.
The Brief
Dulan’s on Crenshaw wanted to offer guests a fresh summer experience that extended beyond traditional dining. The opportunity was to activate the restaurant’s outdoor space in a new way—creating an experience that could bring people together around film while still feeling connected to the food, culture, and hospitality of Dulan’s.
The Concept
BALDAIN developed Cinema & Soul as an open-air movie night designed around more than the screening itself. Inspired by the communal feeling of classic movie nights, the experience paired Harlem Nights with lounge-style seating, popcorn, games, a photo experience, and dining—turning the restaurant’s outdoor space into a relaxed neighborhood cinema for the evening.

The Experience
Guests settled into lounge seating beneath the evening sky, enjoyed dinner and popcorn, played games, captured photos, and gathered for a screening of Harlem Nights. The combination of film, food, and shared experience turned a familiar restaurant patio into something entirely different for the night—a space for laughter, nostalgia, and community.
